Any Google Android user worth their salt will immediately confirm that they know what Google Play apps look like and know exactly where to locate them in their smart device. The general masses can do that too…to a point. Google now is making sure all its Android users can easily recall and recognise all its apps.

To achieve this, it has updated all the icons for Google Play apps to reflect the unified concept that is being introduced. According to Google, this is to provide a consistent look across the entire Google Play family and to ensure that there is no possible reason for Android users to find it difficult to locate any of its dedicated apps.

Personally, this move is a good one as it properly reinforces the branding of Google Play and extends the thematic understanding of the app ecosystem.

For the first time ever, Android users will no longer have to figure out which are Google Play linked apps when they power up their devices or wonder if they work as per description when engaged.
