Seperti tahun-tahun lepas, tahun nie pun Microsoft cuba membeli Yahoo! dengan tawaran setakat nie sebanyak $44.6 billion dengan purata $31 setiap saham. Walaupun sebanyak dua kali sebelum nie Yahoo telah menolak tawaran Microsoft, tetapi kali nie masih tidak ketahui lagi jawapan Yahoo!.
